Nils Frahm’s finger tips. Oh to be touched by them. Everything they touch becomes beautiful. Keyboards, goatees, knobs and faders… in the hands of this German composer and producer they seem to be able to switch beauty on and off at will and they are therefore, objects and fragments of the same which are beautiful in their own right.
The music that comes from Nils Frahm’s touch is somewhere between dreamy electronic music, contemporary tossing and turning and the awakening of noise improvisation. In whatever project he participates, be it his own records (some recorded solo on the piano and others cloaked in layers of arrangements) or be it in his collaborations with other artists (his parallel adventure as a member of Nonkeen or with F.S Blumm, DJ Shadow, Machinefabriek, Ólafur Arnalds…), there will always be a common denominator: the desire to transform music into something intangible, into ether, into solace.
The fact that Nils Frahm’s sounds are a refuge for those who need a break from a world that whizzes by at lightning speed was demonstrated at his stunning performance during this year’s Primavera Sound presenting his new album, All Melody. The spell of this music that floats between worlds will happen once again on 19th November in Madrid (La Riviera) and on the 20th in L’Auditori de Barcelona, as part of the Sit Back cycle of concerts.
