ANIMAL COLLECTIVE performing Sung Tongs
+ ERIC COPELAND
Animal Collective will revisit Sung Tongs, the record that changed their career, in Barcelona and Madrid
Not satisfied with being part either of the weird folk that preceded them or of the electronic psychedelia that came later, at the beginning of this century Animal Collective chose to trace their own path. 14 years later, Sung Tongs is not only considered one of the most influential albums of the last decade but as the album that changed the band’s career, preceded by the paradigmatic trio formed by Feels (2005), Strawberry Jam (2007) and Merriweather Post Pavillion (2009) that catapulted them to the top of experimental pop in the new century.
The two protagonists of Sung Tongs, Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) and Avey Tare (David Portner), will play it in its entirety on a tour that will include concerts in the Apolo of Barcelona on the 19th June and in the Joy Eslava in Madrid on 20th June. A golden opportunity, as not even when the album was released, has it been possible to hear it live in its entirety.
